Secrets of New York Exhibition Catalog
What Sklaroff adores most about her city are the places that out-of-town visitors tend to overlook—the hidden gardens, small hole-in-the-wall restaurants, old unassuming buildings, fire escapes, and rooftops. And it’s the unique moments that occur in these places that she captures—a psychic reading a crystal ball in a storefront window, friends meeting in a secret blossoming garden in the springtime, tennis players enjoying a match on an East Side court few know about. These private, unassuming scenes are part of what make New York City so special: the quiet that takes place in a city full of chaos, in the middle of our hurried lives.
Sonya Sklaroff’s exhibition catalog is a compilation of 38 colorful and rich oil paintings, watercolors and ink drawings that display her observations and personal viewpoints of the places in New York that tend to be overlooked. The preface for the catalog was written by the best-selling author and Harvard theoretical physicist, Lisa Randall.
The catalog documents the work shown at Sonya Sklaroff’s solo exhibition at the Algonquin May 5-30, 2023.
The catalog is soft back, 48 pages, 8.5 x 11 inches.
